Marlin model 60 action hard to pull back on first shoot?

There would normally be a slightly heavier pull rearward on the first shot - to chamber a round - as the bolt has to the hammer/action. Subsequently if you were to manually remove a cartridge from the chamber by pulling the bolt to the rear, it would not be as hard due to the hammer/action already being in the ****** - seems like the filters here will not let me type c.o.c.k.e.d position.
