I have a big snag on my carpet...what can I do with the big yarn sticking out?

Is there a way I can thread it back in? I know when there's a snag on a sweater you can use a needle and thread to pull the snag back into the sweater. What can I do for carpet (it's not shag but your basic run of the mill household carpet)?
