How do I know if I am having a miscarriage or decidual bleeding?

i don't want to scare you but they should be able to tell by ur HCG levels if they went up or not because i was 5 weeks pregnant and i started bleeding light pink and in gradually got worst within the next few day and i had a miscarriage. but it could go either way it could be innocent.
