How am i selfish in this matter?

I just started playing soccer this year and originally i was supposed to be a back-up goalie because the other goalie is a senior and im a junior in high school.I started the first 30 minutes of our first 2 games. During our second game the main goalie fell and tore her ACL and is now out for the season. Scared for my life that in gonna be the only goalie and im a beginner at soccer,i did way better than i thought i would. As far as our season goes,we lost every game and not even scored 1 point. I did exactly what the coaches told me to do, they even told me themselves. So therefore i expect to be MVP this season. I told my friend and she said that i was being selfish. Am i really being selfish in this matter?
